Sachiko Motoda
When I arrived in Canada from Japan, I thought I would be able to draw and make art on my own because I had enough art education in Japan. I also thought that as art was not my profession. I would continue to enjoy drawing. Which I did but my confidence to share my art declined.
I lead a quieter life in Edmonton now and feeling I had more time for art I wanted to reignite my brush. While attending an Edmonton Art Club meeting, I felt that the criticism from the members is closer to the source of my passion than anything else. I recognized the Clubs members' passions are reflected in their work, and it would be a great honor to be able to get close to their respective flames and meet people who expand their imagination in Edmonton.
I paint watercolours, collages, illustrations, and other mediums but oil painting is my favourite because it gives me a deep texture and magic of colour that is beyond my imagination.
My art is in private collections in Calgary and Yellowknife.
