Helena Ball
I was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1959. I was a Medical Laboratory Technologist for 46 years until I retired in 2021.
My earliest memories include a desire and interest in art. As a child I dreamed of having beautiful colours and supplies to work with. Alas, my parents put me in Piano lessons! As a young adult I worked in a framing store where I fell in love with the watercolour medium.
I am constantly pursuing my interest through community courses, on line forums such as Watercolour Live as well as art clubs and participating in Mural Mosaic projects.
In the late 1990’s I was able to dedicate two years exclusively to my art which helped to build my confidence and skill. I have tackled most subjects that capture my interest and particularly enjoy painting children at play, florals and landscapes.
Why do I paint in this age of plentiful inexpensive imagery? Because painting is really about seeing and I would be incomplete without it. It’s my way to share a piece of my soul with someone else.
