All my life I have been involved in all forms of art, artistic rollerskating, ballet, figure skating on ice, designing and sewing skating costumes, dancing, theatre. For over 30 years my creative juices flowed teaching young people how to jump and spin on skates. I was the producer and director for 18 city wide Ice Shows for the Federation of Community Leagues . When "I hung up my skates", I still needed something creative in my life.
For three years I painted for 3 weeks at the University of Alberta "Spring Session for Older Adults", now ELLA, with wonderful instructors Ihor Dymitruk and Paul Braid. At that time I realized seniors who enjoy painting in a group wanted to paint year round. Thus the formation of The Laurier Heights Art Society. Over 20 years since I started this group we have had many accomplished artists and instructors pass through our group. Most of my painting education has been attending Spring Session for 25 years. Paul Braid, Ilda lubane, Lorraine Ure, Doug Jahma andIsabella Konikowski were some of our teachers. I have attended workshops over the years and am a member of the Edmonton Art Club, Society of Western Canadian Artists (Associate), and unelected leader of the Laurier Heights Art Group.
I have participated in many many group shows plus some gallery shows and my work has found it's way into homes, offices and hospitals in countries around the world.
My greatest inspiration comes from viewing our Canadian Group of Seven, Tom Tompson, Claude Monet, and Latvian Master painters. Living close to the mountains is a plus.
