(Mary) Leona Olausen a practicing Metis artist, born in Flin Flon Manitoba, is the third child of a family of 12.
In her early childhood she moved to Dunmore, Alberta. Her favorite childhood memory is lying out in the prairie fields on a warm summer day creating images in the clouds as they floated across the sky.
Leona settled in Edmonton in her teens, married with children she moved to Chipman, Alberta, finally making Edmonton her permanent home.
Leona loves to challenge herself with new ideas. She is a multidisciplinary artist, Acrylic, Digital Manipulation, and Mixed Media, pushing boundaries in her arts. Leona graduated from the University of Alberta Fine Arts Program in 2008 and has taken numerous Art Workshops. She is a devout advocate volunteering for various art venues in Edmonton. She can be found (most days) at her studio Colours Art South 7359-104 Street Edmonton Alberta.
