I have always drawn. Mom would say I came out with pencil in hand. Any piece of abandoned paper was fare game. The square card of packaging from a new pair of stockings became a prized canvas, quickly filled with cave painting like horses running across wide open fields with graduating hills in the background.
I was lucky to have been awarded a scholarship to attend the Full Arts Program at Central Technical High School in Toronto, for my high school years.
Retirement has brought me home, I can draw and paint to my heart's content. I love to draw with pencil, there is a quality of line, shading, light and darks. The way the paper and the graphite combine with a simple grace is like magic to me. Painting, as well; watercolour or acrylic, the colours flows onto the surface creating perfect harmony.
My style is clear, distinct, with no attempt to make the observer wonder what they are looking at. I want to allow the perfection and beauty of the subject to shine, and allow the observer the opportunity to explore the subject closely and at their own time. My work reveals the deepest truths of the subject with a level of honesty and joy. My goal is to allow a space for inner peace to be shared between me the subject and you.
