Jean was born in Edmonton, Alberta the oldest of five sibilings. When she was six years old her family moved to a small town not far from Edmonton. That is where her love of the country began and there she started painting with watercolours in Junior High school.
Jean married and had four childern who inherited her love of art. She worked as a decorator and clerk at Sears for many years. When her daughters went into the decorating business, she joined in the fun to work long hours with them. Jean started taking art lessons in 1975.
It only took one class and she was hooked.
Even though her life was very busy with work and children, there was always time to paint, sometimes until late into the night.
Jean became a Signature Member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists and a member of Artists Borealis a group based in Edmonton. She has been showing her paintings in Art Nest Gallery in Calgary since 1985, as well as at Candler Art Gallery in Camrose and Snowbird Gallery in Edmonton. She has also been teaching acrylic painting since1998 and really enjoys doing it.
From the very first lesson painting became a passion with me. I spent many sleepless nights working out compositions and colour schemes. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful province with the country landscapes and the mountains which I love. Going on a photo shoot to the mountains with my artist friends or just packing a lunch and driving around for a day in and around Edmonton are the best of times. I am blessed to have great support from my husband, family and friends.
