I am originally from Australia and came to Canada to teach in the Edmonton Public School District. It was not until several years after my retirement that I tried and immediately fell in love with watercolour painting.
I pursued this enthusiasm for watercolour and for Alberta's landscapes by taking courses in the Extension Department of the U of A, by reading extensively, by painting with Ottewell Neighbours and by hunting fine art for countless hours on the internet.
I am now following the advice of many artists more experienced than I: paint, paint and paint. I paint mainly on a quarter section of unbroken parkland, 100 km north-east of Edmonton and along various routes between Edmonton and this recreational property.
I am currently interested in representing the rhythms and patterns of light on landscape and native vegetation as they change with the seasons.
