I entered the world weighing two pounds , twelve ounces. I was raised on the west coast of Washington  State. My mother died when I was four years old. These early challenges contributed to the early development of a fierce independence. I soon discovered a peacefulness and repose in  nature which influences my artistic perspective. The “ One Creator” was creating……

I met my sweetheart at Washington State University. He was a graduate student from British Columbia. We married, lived and studied in Oregon and later moved to Edmonton where we built our family of three children and career life. As a family we spent time in Africa which profoundly expanded my horizons. At that time painting was not part of my life although the colours, sights, smells and sounds of Africa became a part of me
.
Learning to paint had long been a life goal. I began painting by playing with watercolour on my own. With the encouragement of friends who were experienced in painting, I eventually began to take a few courses. What a challenge that was as I had no background in fine arts. With determination, encouragement from family and friends, and perseverance, I slowly developed my own style and confidence.

After taking numerous courses, I settled into my own painting style under the guidance of artist Frances Alty-Arscott, and continued to express myself through my art.

My goal is creating work with colour, movement and line, forming something separate from myself and then setting the painting free……

My paintings have found their place in homes in Canada and the United States.

I paint my joy and pray my sorrows.
