The youngest of sixteen children, I was born in the bush country, about eight miles north of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. I feel this beginning gave me an acute and deep spiritual “connection” with nature, which often shows itself in my paintings.
If you look closely at some of them, you will find “hidden” figures such as Chiefs in full headdress, wild animals, horses, faces, etc. These images are not intentionally painted; they seem to flow off my brush onto the paper.
I began drawing when very young and often had to use moonlight or firelight to illuminate my page as we had no electricity, running water, or central heating. We lived off the land and had little connection with the outside world; that environment enabled me to fully develop my imagination and artistic inclination.
Some of my paintings were prize winners in school, and as I progressed in my artistic journey throughout life, many people have shown an interest in my work. Some of my paintings are part of private collections in Hungary, Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Poland, the U.S.A., and other countries where I now travel on a yearly basis.
