"I
have always been mystified by the effects of light flickering through
trees and water on a windy day. In some of my paintings I have tried
to capture this delightful phenomenon."
From the time she won a prize
for a Black Cat in Grade One, Jean knew she would always be involved
in art. She was first introduced to oil painting at the University
of Alberta, under the guidance of the late James Taylor. She also
credits Loren Adams, Zoltan Szabo and Robert Genn for inspirational
assistance.
Jean has gradually developed
her own unique style, which has earned her several awards. Her paintings,
which now include watercolors, have hung in the Edmonton Art Gallery,
The Society of Marine Painters Gallery, the Rembrandt Galleries
in Vancouver, the Sandcastle Gallery, the Art Nook in White Rock
B.C. and the Snowbird Gallery in Edmonton.
"Although I have dabbled
in ART all my life, it was not until I retired that I could take
time to expand this interest into sea scapes, landscapes and florals.
Lately, I have had great
satisfaction in portraying my descendants (who now range in age
from two to fifty-plus) as they reached early childhood (old enough
to show character, yet too young to be self-conscious).
On examining the painting
lately, I find a close association between my varying methods of
approach, the mediums used - and the children's predestined personalities." CONTACT
