My first eight years of education were in a one-room school at Boyne Lake, Alberta. We were encouraged by our teachers to draw and paint, mainly to decorate the drab walls and blackboards. I loved it! The resources were few, but I discovered my greatest source of inspiration from nature. I observed the many details of land formation, trees, fauna, life and culture. I painted the way I saw it, and have developed my realistic style.

I now work from my own photographs, still life, sketches and on location. I enhance my composition to create an aesthetic balance and rhythm, in an array of beautiful rich colors to create a pleasing reality, fading into a visionary background.

I first started painting in oils, then acrylics, watercolors, and dyes on rice-paper...watercolors being my favorite medium.
Although I am mainly self-taught, I have refined my art with the many courses I have taken throughout the years.
